CANADIAN NATIONAL SCOUT JAMBOREE – 2013
  • July 6 – 13, 2013
  • Camp Woods, Sylan Lake, Alberta
  • Expected up to 10,000 participants, ranging from 10-15 different countries
  • First Responders have been approved to participate as part of the emergency services medical sector, along with other scouting groups from Halifax, Toronto, and Edmonton.
  • First Responders will be assisting the organization and planning for all areas of the event including Hospital, First Aid Posts, Logistics and Staffing. If you are interested, email Jeff at jwatts@shaw.ca to get on a committee now.

OTHER OPPORTUNITIES

CAMP WOLF HOWL
  • July 19th to August 11th, 2012
  • Camp Byng, Sunshine Coast
  • Coordinator: Albert Chiang
  • Scout camp, approximately 60 new participants per week, for 3 weeks, age 8-12
  • Accommodations, transportation, and food will be covered
  • Do not have to be available all 3 weeks. Schedules can be arranged with coordinator.

MedVents – The GVMAST First Responders program may re-start the “Medical Venturers” crew in British Columbia as a part of Scouts Canada. If you are currently a member of Scouts Canada, you may be eligible in joining the program under a service capacity where registration fees and other services may be wavered in return for your first aid services. You may also be entitled to scholarships available to the scouting community. More details to come.

SCHOLARSHIPS

Scholarships will be available to graduating First Responders for the 2011/2012 school year.  Criteria will be based upon number of hours spent at community events. Selection committee is still being formed. You will have to apply for the scholarship. Application will have more details, and a list of past events and number of hours. Scholarships will be awarded at the end of the school year in June 2012 during the valedictory ceremonies.
